I know I should pay more attention in class during a lecture but my mind wondered recently as I looked at my thumb ring. I got this ring for a 21st birthday present from two of my friends. It is sterling silver and is inscribed on the inside of the ring with greek writing and translates to “In Christ”.
Upon seeing the ring it has gone through its fair few knocks, scraps and cuts over the past 2 and half years which have been tough like every other person in the world. But it was the inside of the ring that had no damage to it, yes a bit of grime/dirt has gotten into the enscription by overall being inside the ring it has not been damaged and survived through the last 2 and half years unlike the outside.
I think you can sense the analogy that is coming. Being inside something like being In Christ has protected me from some serious knocks, scraps and cuts though still picking up some dirt/grime on the way. I know that I will never remain perfect but at least I can be protected from serious mishaps.
